“Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing” (Oscar Wilde)Nowadays the most valuable thing in the world is money; however, there are things, which are invaluable. The well -to-do people can afford to buy almost everything they wanted, even the things which no one could buy in supermarkets, for instance, a new heart, liver and so on. In the world of technological and scientific progress those things have come true. However, life’s greatest treasures are intangible and, therefore, immeasurable. One can buy a pound of potatoes, but not a pound of happiness, or one can buy a packet of milk, but not a packet of freedom, and so on. No one could measure, weigh, or appraise those things, as well as, no one is able to give a price to them, or buy them. Albert Einstein said, “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts”. Money, the products of nourishment, possessions, clothes and so on, are material things, which can be counted and evaluated. Kindness, time, knowledge, friendship, etc. are spiritual things, which no one could count and give price to them. One can only appreciate them and assess at their true value. Those values form our char

The man has done nothing in his life. And vice versa, the life may be very short, but the man has done so much, that some men’ve never done during the long life. As George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel taught, “Life has value only when it has something valuable as its object. ”A modest simple life filled with meaning is worth far more than complicated, splashy one that is trivial. Another value, which is also important for me, is enthusiasm and passion. These two things give energy to my life; add interest and diminish sorrows and adversities. Sometimes it even helps to learn better. For instance, answering enthusiastically during the lecture, one feels interest, the lecture seems never boring, and, at last, one understands the material better than the ‘non-speaking’ person does. However, one should not be fanatic. As Sam Keen said, “ The value of passion, like fire, is judged finally by the amount of warmth and light it creates. Fanatics, like forest fires, burn bright but destroy all in their path that’s tender and green. To be useful fire must be confined. To live passionately, we must develop discipline.” Only then, passion and enthusiasm represent a positive val
