It’s weird how when watching a cartoon movie you automatically presume that the movie is not going to include any violent messages, racial slurs or maybe even some type of totalitarian movement. But recently, I have analyzed a movie and was taken by surprise with the messages this movie was carrying out to the adolescent group. Who would have thought that a movie like Shrek would be able to carry out these horrible messages and make society believe that this movie is socially accepted? The violent messages in this film can be seen from the beginning of the movie. The racial slurs and the totalitarian messages are practices by king Farquaad himself. It is very shocking to see these types of messages being presented to our youth’s minds.

Perhaps if we all took time to analyze cartoon movies and see what messages these films were sending out to our youth of today, we would get something out of it. Or maybe we would just have to start giving different ratings to PG movies, who knows? But I still find it funny however that at some point in our life we have all watched cartoons movies like Shrek yet have never seen these messages. Maybe seeing these messages in cartoon movies might help lower these issues or maybe they might just increase them.
While watching Shrek, I came to the conclusion that all these issues that take place in the real world, also take place in the adolescent movie world.
