Always…Patsy Cline accurately portrays the purpose of the play. Patsy Cline, the singer, will forever be remembered through the actors who perform as her. Adding into the mix, the nostalgic quality of a theatre experience makes this play an enjoyable experience not to mention being based on a great story which acted as the backbone of the production. Every aspect of the production from the lighting and the scenery to the acting and the directing makes this a top notch performance.
From the very beginning, the play makes use of comedy in the verses. Comedy plays a huge role in the acting of the play. This production revolved around the memory of one character with flashbacks involving both characters. Patsy Cline, played by Julie Kay Laskowski, provides the vocals to the music which was originally written by the real Patsy Cline. The singing gives it its own distinction from other production because it gives the production its originality. Obviously the director of the production had a keen eye for comedy and when to use it. Friendship was an underlying theme in the production. The two main characters became close friends through the span of the play. They cried together and they laughed together. The overall pace of the story was perfect in that there were smooth transitions between events. The events were described by Louise in her perspective of the situations. She told the audience where every character was going and how. Overall the acting, the script, and the directing were perfectly choreographed and written.
