Career of a Computer Engineer

Choosing a career is very important in a person’s life. It can also be the most difficult decision a person will have to make. They need to think about the things that interest them and what kind of lifestyle they want to live. When choosing a career a person should meet the qualifications or requirements that are needed. Also, keep in mind the training that is necessary and the future needs of that career. Some other things to consider is how much money they will make, is there a chance for advancement and does the career satisfy them enough to live an enjoyable lifestyle.

I have chosen to do my research report on the technological industry as a computer engineer. Computer engineering is the design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of computer controlled equipment for the benefit of humankind. They also write and debug software and hardware, prevent problems, and coordinate the construction and future growth of a company’s computer systems. They work in all departments. They research, plan, design, develop, modify, evaluate, and integrate computer and telecommunications hardware and related equipment and information. They are employed by computer and telecommunications


To become a computer engineer requires the most education of any career in the computer industry. Algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, computer science, and English are all very helpful in preparing a person for becoming a computer engineer.

The first years of being a computer engineer are very hectic. You will have limited input and high degree of personal accountability. These first few years can get very frustrating. After five years, engineers maintain and upgrade information systems, and have significant input on future purchases and system architecture. Responsibility and salaries increase. Many ten- year computer engineers open their own consulting firms that examine and analyze systems, then give methods of information flow. Hours remain long and may are put in charge of managing two or three other computer engineers.

Computer engineers need to be able to think logically, communicate and work well in a team environment. Computer engineers spend a great deal of time typing, they should also expect to work long hours, and enjoy working with new ideas.

The most interesting aspect of computer engineering is that for the first time, it is becoming a unique and distinct occupation that people study in school and look for work in. Computer consulting
