Eric Clapton is known for his prowess with the guitar, as he should be since he has been playing for over forty years. When rock and roll exploded onto the world, Clapton began exploring its roots in American blues. Clapton was a member of many bands, getting his sound out, making a name for himself and cementing his reputation as a premiere guitarist. While playing in the group Derek and the Dominos, he wrote Layla about his unrequited love, Patti Harrison (fellow band member George Harrison’s wife).
