the great gatsby

The Great Gatsby is a novel fills with dynamic characters, that the hero is portrays to the reader by a man who, will not judge a man easily. This man’s name is not, in fact, Gatsby, but Nick Carraway, the narrator of the story. The man who is being perceived, of course is Jay Gatsby, our hero. Throughout the novel, Nick acts as Gatsby’s confidant. A confidant is a person presents when a he someone to listen to his plight.

Gatsby befriends Nick for a good reason; to meet his long lost love, Daisy, Nick’s cousin. The reader likes getting to know Gatsby because the reader likes the confidant. If Nick, the confidant, is Gatsby friend, then Gatsby is our friend as well. This is true of all relationships that deal with Nick. For the most part, the reader will feel that same way towards a character as Nick does.

Trying to understand Gatsby is a very difficult thing to do. Gatsby not only held onto a secret past but also had the hidden agenda of trying o get Daisy back. As people becomes more and more curious as to where he come from and who he really was, Gatsby becomes a shadow that is trying to blend in with his surroundings. This went on until he met Nick Carraway, who was able to bring Gatsby out of his small world. Gatsby live in an illusory world, though few can see reality. Nick Carraway is one of the few people in the book that lives in reality. “ They’re a rotten crowd. You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together,”(pg. 162) is an example of hoe Nick realizes the corruption that money brings. While Gatsby allows money to posses him, Nick can see the destructive force of it. Even though Nick befriends Gats
