mustang crash

My first car was a 1996 Ford Mustang: 215 Horsepower, V6 engine, 4.0 liter and went 0-60 MPH in 5.1 seconds. This car was an awesome car and was in perfect condition. Then came a terrible November night, the night I crashed my beloved car.

On a late November night, around midnight, I was at a friend’s house getting ready to come home. I had my younger sister, Nikki, with me. We were all having a fun evening playing games and wrestling when I realized the time and that I needed to get back to my house before it got any later. However, instead of getting home quickly, my night took a sudden and unexpected turn. The accident occurred less than a quarter mile from my friend’s house. I was blessed to crash so close to their house. Although I would rather have crashed close to mine, that did not happen, and this way I could call my friend and have their parents help. Their whole family was supportive.

After leaving their house I drove away and went around a corner. The corner is very sharp and late at night it is easier to take the turn by going into the other lane; there was a dip in the road and when my car came back up my tire pressure was unbalanced and I lost handling of my car. I had approximately two seconds

from that moment to the time we crashed. I had enough time to yell at my sister to hold on. I was unable to apply the brake at all and was I unable to turn the car due to a lack of handling. We hit a telephone pole straight on. When I regained consciousness I awoke to smoke emitting from my air bag. It was an overpowering smell, after every breath that I took I would cough. To this day, almost a year later, I can still think of what it smelt like as if the accident happened just the other day. I yelled at Nick to get out of the car but her ankle was severally sprained and her door was damaged so I had to go over to her, help her out and walk her back to my friend’s house. After I knew she would be all right I called my dad to let him know what happened. Like any parent would do he hurried down to the accident to be with his children. After I got off the phone with him I ran back to my car and surveyed the damage. My whole front end was demolished. Part of my car wrapped itself around the pole and other pieces were as far as twenty yards away from the accident. The damage was astonishing. Seeing the damage made me upset, but my adrenaline was rushing too much for it to really sink in. The next day, however, when I awoke to the realization that my car was gone I started to get upset.

The whole night was a learning experience for me. I loved the car, but now it is gone. Although this was a car I lost, it could have been anything. Just because something is loved does not mean it will be around forever. I will remember this night for a very long time to come.
