Some of my major accomplishments that are well redound are, in 1776 I became captain of a company of artillery and, a year later a lieutenant colonel in the Continental Army, I also joined the staff of General Washington as secretary and aide-de-camp and soon became a close confidant of his. In 1778 I drafted Washington’s report to congress that was on military reorganization; in October of that same year I published my first Publius letter, where I deplored the weakness of Congress. More than two years later I married Elizabeth, who was going to bear eight children for me. I resigned as Washington’s aide-de-camp on April 30 1781.
