To understand why Christians and Muslims are such competitive religions one must learn from their history. Christianity is in a direct sense an offspring of, Judaism because Jesus and his immediate followers were Jews living in Palestine and Jesus was believed by his followers to have fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah. Christianity from its beginnings was a missionary religion. Its early missionaries spread its teachings. The most notable of the bunch was St. Paul was spread Christianity in Asia Minor, Alexandria, Greece, and Rome. Missions have remained a major element in Christianity to the present day. In Christianity, Jesus is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and all three are one. Although this ideology is not clear cut nor is it anywhere in the Bible Christians rely on faith and the teachings of Paul for this idea. The holy book in Christianity is the Bible. Both Christianity and Islam are peaceful religions. They preach religious tolerance and love all mankind. Both places I visited were very interesting and I appreciate the time everyone took to help me.

Islam is a religion founded by the Prophet Mohammad. Islam, founded in the 7th century Islam is the youngest of the three monotheistic world religions. A follower of Islam is a Muslim which means one who submits. There are more than 1 billion Muslims worldwide, fewer than one fifth of whom are Arab. The holy book of Islam is the Quran which is believed to be the final revelation by Allah or God in English to Mohammad, the Prophet of Islam. Since the Divine Word was revealed in Arabic, this language is used in Islamic religious practice worldwide. Muslims believe in final reward and punishment. Muslims submit to Allah through five pillars of Islam which are : shahada, the declaration that “there is no god but God, and Mohammad is the Messenger of God” , the five daily prayers, the giving of alms, fasting from dawn to sunset fast during the holy month of Ramadan; and the pilgrimage to Mecca. The importance of the pilgrimage cannot be overestimated because this great annual pilgrimage unites Islam and its believers from around the world.
