Although she was the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite did not have many admirable qualities. When she desired, she could be malicious and could turn the heart of any man. Forced into an arranged marriage with an ugly god, Hephaistos, Aphrodite felt unsatisfied. She wanted what she desired, and she was determined to get it too. Eventually, Hephaistos caught onto Aphrodite and Ares’ love affair. From that point, Hephaistos crafted a plan to catch the two. While Aphrodite and Ares were in physical ecstasy on Hephaistos’ bed, Hephaistos trapped them with a net. Hephaistos succeeded in his task: to trap them. However, in order to fulfill his revenge against the two, he planned to display the passionate couple to other gods, including Aphrodite’s father, Zeus.

In today’s world, the value of marriage has not changed much from the great love story of Aphrodite and Ares. Whether or not people marry for love, one factor remains: people still commit adultery.
