She was a great historical figure, and she accomplished many things while she was Queen. She had many rumors about her and other Kings, and she also had many children. However her children weren’t old enough to have known her, because she was killed at such a young age. Her family had to go on without her, and this was very hard for Louis XVI. Marie had to mature with her mother constantly pestering her, which is why she was a very independent woman, and she carried characteristics on from her mother and used them as she was Queen. Once Marie became Queen of France, her old habits returned to a much higher degree. She took up gambling, and overspent on all of the latest fashions. One year, she bought 170 dresses and exceeded the dress allowance by 40, 000 livres. In addition to the latest clothes, she also had her hair styled every day, and spent over 849,000 livres on diamonds. For her parties, she spent 200, 000 livres for the Petit Trianon, where she hosted small parties.

The book concluded with several chapters detailing a fall of the monarchy. Marie never had a lust for power, and in reality she had almost no impact on the governent. Her actions and scandles and rumors finally brought her downfall. The people were convinced that the Queen imposed her will on the King and that she had secret dealings with her lovers and favorite rulers to bring about France’s ruin. As the people got more suspicious the king and Queen saw they’re power beginning to fall. The king was brought to trial the truth came out that he had a hidden strong box which had documents hidden away. These documents were proof of his double game since the beginning of the revolution. IT was also discovered that the Queen had smuggled great sums of money out of the country to her brother who was an emporer.

It must have been very akward for her when her and Louis first got married, because she knew that her mother would know every move that she would make. When her mother Maria Antoinetter died on November 29, 1780 this was a trajic time for Marie. She had lost her mother, but also she had to go on with her life, however she saw fit. Once her mother died she was less powerful, and she became less popular because she didn’t know how to run her kingdom. She didn’t have a lust for power, all of the power she had ever needed was given to her by her mother. However her mother wasn’t there anymore, which meant she had to do everything on her own.
