The 442nd Regimental Combat Team consists of Japanese American volunteers

The 442nd combat team made the right choice to fight for America because Japan did a bad deed by bombing Pearl Harbor, they are American citizens, and because it was their chance to gain back the lost respect for Japan. Japan did a bad thing by bombing Pearl Harbor because it was done out of greed. All Japan wanted was more resources for themselves and attempted to get it by killing many innocent people and attacking a country that didn’t even want to get involved in the first place. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team did the right thing because they fought for the country they are citizens of rather than the one they left. By fighting for the United States, the 442nd Combat Team earned back, most, if not all, respect the Japanese had lost after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was their one chance to prove their loyalty to the U.S. and they reacted by taking it. If they hadn’t fought of the United States and had backed-up Japan instead, who knows where the two countries would stand right now. One would definitely have suffered greatly and may have even fallen to the hands of the other. Or even worse, a great battle could have ensued between the two countries, leading to the destruction, or near destruction of several areas of the world. This would only be known if the 442nd hadn’t fought for their citizen country and had instead fought for their homeland. Fortunately, we did not have to experience the possible outcomes of this thanks to the acts of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

All men were then called upon to fight, except for the Japanese Americans as they faced racism after the attack on Pearl Harbor and categorized as “4C, non-draftable” (Byrne, Joe. Page 1). The combat team was formed on February 1, 1943, after the government reversed its decision on the Japanese Americans fighting in the war (Byrne, Joe. Page 1). After many of the team’s accomplishments, they were recognized as the most “decorated” unit in the history of the United States. These decorations, or awards, include 9, 486 Purple Hearts, 57 Distinguished Service Crosses, 1 Congressional Medal of Honor, 4,000 Bronze Stars, 560 Silver Stars, and many other awards,
