Theresa Murphy - In a world that screams out, "every man for himself", " take care of yourself first" and even "get your own bag", we find a remarkable young lady that lives by a higher code of ethics. Theresa Murphy's middle name could well be compassion. For, whether it is on the court, in the classroom or during a special event, when Theresa Murphy is around NO ONE is left out. From Theresa's viewpoint, everyone counts, each person has value. Most middle schoolers are more concerned about how they look, how they feel, how they fit in and who doesn't like them. Not so with Theresa Murphy. She is truly an other-centered, empathetic individual. I have seen her repeatedly go out of her way to see that no one is left out of an activity, a game or a discussion. She stands up for what is right, disallows put-downs, and defends the defenseless, even if that means standing against the rest of her class. When it comes to compassion and empathy Theresa definitely sets the standard. Thank you, Theresa, for living the moral focus trait of compassion.
Kevin Stelter - Perseverance, commitment, attentiveness, dedication. . . these are all traits that describe Kevin Stelter. Kevin consistently displays these traits both in the classroom and out. In the classroom, he is a recognized leader. He is a Making Waves, gold card holder who shows himself committed to excellence in his schoolwork, attentive to the needs of those around him, and dedicated to whatever task is set before him. Out of the classroom, he is an on-the-road soccer player. For the last four years, he has played on the year round travel soccer team. An honor not bestowed upon just anyone, players are INVITED to play. Kevin has been invited to play for the last four years. His dedication and commitment to excellence are a tremendous example to all those around him, both in the classroom and on the field.
