I want a wife

Response to Judy Brady’s “I Want a Wife”

In Judy Brady’s “I Want A Wife,” Brady simply goes off on a male bashing tangent. Brady stereotypes the male race as an ungrateful and lazy breed, while creating an all-righteous image of woman. Brady describes, moreover, tries to find every flaw that is associated with some, but certainly not all, men.

It is an almost comical event to read of the horrors that Brady illustrates in a wife’s everyday life--- laughable to say the least. Women, however, handle stress in the exact opposite way, which of course is going to pose major problems until men can understand this difference. Women want to talk about what is upsetting them, because they process information and feelings by putting them into words. This causes frustration between men and women, because men are more action oriented.
