Personal Reaction: My favorite character is still Dave. He’s such a terrific boy. He’s the child of my dreams. He tried to earn his love. He kept on trying. I like how he didn’t give up. I’m still very surprise. I like this story so much. It touches my heart in many different ways. It shows the injustice of in this world. I don’t understand how a mother could do that to her child. Even an animal loved their babies. I also don’t get the reason why the other children are treated differently. They have more privileges and never received punishment for any reason.

I would highly recommend this book to another person. It is a terrific book. It’s based on the author’s childhood. This is not some made believe, everything in this book is true. When I read this book, I wished I were in the story to save the little boy. I wanted top cry.

I also learned to appreciate my mother. I realize that she’s a great mother even though she annoys me sometimes. She’s always nagging, because she wants me to succeed. I’m so happy to have the life I have and I shall not question it any longer. I learned to appreciate what I have.

I learned that a person might look the way they do, because they are forced to look that way. No one should be teased because of the way they look. No one chooses to have a harsh life. Who would want to look dirty? Who would want to be the joke of the day? I know I am not going to make any judgments about anyone ever again.

He was starved for ten days. He used water as strength for survival. No matter what he did he couldn’t escape from the hellhole. His mom took her anger out on him. He also had to drink Clorox.
