My Internet article review consisted of the study made by journalism faculty members of how stress was prevalent in their jobs due to the technological changes. Most faculty members experienced technological stress, but only about half felt they encountered more stress than five years ago. Most journalism educators basically had positive feelings about the technology in their classrooms, but with new technology, they suffered added stress (Beam).

While recognizing that there were some concerns and problems with integrating the use of information and communication technology, professors thought it was beneficial to the educational process and should be continued. The problem most often noted by professors was lost time due to maintenance on the equipment. Faculty had a hard time keeping up with the pace of change and stated that information technology was placing more demands on their time. They said that extra time was needed to learn new software and to create new things for teaching because greater expectations were being placed on them. The way and manner in which technology is introduced into the educational system may influence the faculties’ reactions to technology (Beam). The demands of the Internet and e-mail have also contributed to an overall increase in stress. Most workers make a direct connection between workplace stress and accidents or illnesses. The majority of those surveyed agreed that stress is a leading cause of accidents and mistakes in the workplace. People who experience a great deal of stress have higher absenteeism.
