south african racism

Racism should have diminished since the destruction of Apartheid, the South African divider. The exception is that racism can’t be removed, and some negative effects are still left in tact. An example of a negative influence can be the South African schools. The idea that large groups of people still believe that Blacks are inferiority is disturbing. Some schools believe that Whites are naturally and scientifically superior to Blacks. This leads to all sorts of suffering like derogatory words, threats, and beatings. Other types of problems include racism in advertising. Some businesses have preferred to put White celebrities instead of Black celebrities in TV commercials. Obviously this is a problem. Here in America we don’t usually face those conflicts. Many people of different races have shown their commercials in American TV. Some black superstars like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods have greatly influenced the American public. Students suffer through racism, and people’s views are exploited through media. These two factors can be dominantly affective to many people’s lives. It is depressing to know that South Africa has to go through big problems like these. It is very horrible to bear. The US has gone through things like these, and fortunately its people have evolved into a more educated, and respectful audiences. Hopefully the South African society will try to go beyond the outer skin color and try to deal with it problems. The government has most of the country’s responsibility for problems like racism. Apartheid and racial tension for about 300 years are major contributors for a highly troubled land. But it is a great possibility that when people are more united in South Africa, peace will be prosperous for a long time. Until that time comes, it should be known to many that racism is an evil. No one should be judged for his or her outer appearance, but only of inner personality. South Africa will face problems for some time. Hopefully South Africa is going at the right direction, and people who like to help countries like South Africa should contribute.
