Baroque music was written from the year 1600-1750 and was similar to pre-era music in the way that musical emotion was tailored to give worship more magnetism. However, Baroque music was different in many ways because although the music was customized for churches, certain instruments and voices depending on there sound were objectives when the composers wrote the music. In this era, instrumental technology developed and instruments were improved to have equal temperament, to play any key and a new key order system, which resulted in the compositions of keyboard music. The viol, which was the primary string instrument before this era was replaced with the violin, which was further modified to be used as a solo instrument. The lead composer of the Baroque era was Johann Sebastian Bach. He absorbed every advance in the musical instrument development and as a result composed some of the most famous pieces in musical history today. Cantata is another form of Baroque music and unlike instrumental music of concerto and sonata; it focuses on the voice to illustrate vocal skills. It was developed from solo singing with passive music and evolved into vocal compositions combined with instruments of all kinds. From the year 1660-1725, Alessandro Scarlatti a famous cantata composer, revealed a very compassionate and melancholic scheme of love and betrayal in his compositions. His music was very emotional, emphatic in nature and exposed the breakthrough idea of creating music on the influence of an outside force like love and relationships, versus the influence of the musical force or sound from the specific instrument. From pre-classical to the expressive style music that followed, Baroque music was slowly transitioning into Classical. Classical Style represented a much different type of music than in the Baroque era. It articulated a smoother, more synchronized form with flexibility in rhythm, contrast and mood to express more than one emotion. It introduced a balance of musical notes and melodies, which developed the piano that then replaced the harpsichord.
