There is always the question, “What if a woman is raped and then is pregnant?” What is she to then do with the baby? It is the baby of a complete stranger and has no value to her what so ever. Is she supposed to have this baby? If abortions were banned she would have to go through the entire pregnancy, care for the child, and provide everything that it needed until he or she was of age. All of this would be because she was raped. Getting raped is something that the woman had no control over at all. People who are

against abortion try to say that because she was raped that she has to have the baby. What would they do if they were raped?

In conclusion abortion has been one of the most controversial topics ever in the United States for many years. There are so many viewpoints and ideas about this topic that it is so hard to decide right from wrong. No one has come to a reasonable answer or guideline to follow when it comes to abortions being illegal or banned. It has only been until this recent year that they have made it illegal to terminate a third trimester pregnancy. I believe that this is a good move because by then the baby is almost fully developed and is the closest thing to being a person. To me, I don’t really feel that a fetus counts as a living person or murder. Also the mother should not have needed to carry the child that long to just get rid of it. Although, I do agree that abortions should not be used as a form of birth control. I do believe that if used properly and not taken to the limit abortions can be a plus. They can help with society and everyday life because no one wants to see a suffering or unwanted child.

Then it is said that abortion can be used as a form a birth control. There have been numerous accounts of women having abortions up to five times. This is where abortions can get out of hand. You should not have abortions just because you can, they should only be used when necessary. Also they shouldn’t be used just because the woman is too irresponsible to use some form of birth contr
