ECSTASY : Dangerous Drug?

Although some people think Ecstasy is a pleasuring harmless drug, ecstasy destroys the brain, which will make one depressed over a period of time, do other damage to the brain, and ecstasy will over heat the body temperature. Ecstasy is not the type of drug people think it is. It is worse. The body overheats and may make the body go into hyperthermia. A drug is a thing that hurts the body in someway and makes one feel something artificial. Hyperthermia is when the body goes way over the usual temperature. Ecstasy may also cause muscle breakdown, seizures, stroke, kidney and cardiovascular system failure. Ecstasy doesn’t just affect only you but also everyone you are close to you, because the moods and depression that occurs from MDMA destroys the relationships with your loved ones.

Ecstasy’s real name is [ 3,4 methylenedioxymethampetamine] or simply put as MDMA. MDMA (also commonly known as Ecstasy, X, E, XTC, Adam, etc.) is a semi-synthetic chemical compound. It is a synthetic, psychoactive drug. It is similar to an amphetamine. It is a white crystalline powder. It’s usually in capsule form, in pressed pills, or as loose powder. Average cost ranges from $10-$30 a pill. Common routes of administ

First, Ecstasy kills the brain, which will make one depressed short-term/long-term and do other short-term or long-term damage. On a study in apes, the brain cells that produce serotonin grew back, but didn’t produce enough as it did before the dose of Ecstasy. [Saunders 5]. Without serotonin, or if you don’t have enough it cannot regulate mood, sleep, pain, emotion, appetite, and other behaviors as well. Without a lot of serotonin the user may experience persistent behavioral effects. “Ecstasy damages brain cells by causing the nerve branches and nerve endings to degenerate. These cells then re-grow abnormally, failing to re-connect to some brain or connecting elsewhere to the wrong areas.” [“Ecstasy Causes Brain Damage”]. MDMA in humans, mean that they also have persistent memory problems. Ecstasy also can make one’s nerve endings deteriorate. Cases of Parkinson’s disease have been found in young people around thirty. Since Parkinson’s disease usually would show up in 50-60 year olds, this shows that Methylenedioxymethaphetamine might have a link to the problem. [“Ecstasy Users Get All Shook Up"] The brain relies on neurotransmitters to communicate through the brain. Since Ecstasy kills neurotransmitters it might make the user over a time get physical tremors, and loss of certain brain functions.

Second, Ecstasy heats the body to ‘danger levels.’ 108 degrees Fahrenheit and above are these levels. A well-known cause of death by ecstasy, and probably one of the most common is heatstroke. [Saunders] Because ecstasy is most
