Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer was a narcissist, a necrophiliac, somewhat of a sadist and a cannibal. In many ways he fit a typical sexual serial killer profile, but in some ways he didn’t. After his arrest, he was interviewed by police and several psychiatrists for days in an attempt to try to understand why someone would commit such ghastly crimes. Many books have been written about Jeffrey Dahmer including his life and crimes with a few differing views, but most of what is written comes to the same conclusion. No one could have predicted what Jeffrey Dahmer was to become. Jeffrey Dahmer’s upbringing in some ways did not have the usual components of most sexual serial killers. He was not sexually or physically abused by his parents. He was not raised in financial hardship. In fact, he lived in an affluent home in Ohio with his university educated father and loving mother. Although Jeffrey’s mother suffered from a few physical ailments during her pregnancy with him, he was a child who was wanted and adored. He was a happy, normal child. His parents tried to give him a good upbringing but slowly he began to withdraw within himself and shut
came near the end of his killing spree. He resorted to trying to turn his victims into “sex zombies”. He experimented with homemade lobotomies by drilling a hole in the skull of his victim and injecting just enough acid to kill the willpower of his victims. He also drugged his victims so he could have them for as long as he wanted. He viewed humans as so inferior to himself that the death of his victims were trivial compared to the momentary pleasure of his orgasm. He showed he thought he was above the law by constantly lying to authorities. He had many encounters with police over his years of killing and always managed to explain his way out of suspicion. In the end, it may have been his narcissism that got him caught. He got sloppy with his last victim. His last victim escaped and testified that when he was in Jeffery’s apartment, Jeffrey was nice to him one minute and changed into a different, controlling person the next, only to revert back again. Jeffrey allowed his last victim to convince him to let him go into the living room as it was cooler. Jeffrey did not notice that the drug had not taken its usual effect. Jeffrey was not in control. Once out of Jeffrey’s sight, he was able to surprise Jeffrey with a strike to the head and escape.
