1. Decide if John Adams or Thomas Jefferson would be more likely to hold such a position—if he were around today with his basic views unchanged.

I think John Adams and Thomas Jefferson would both be politicians today. John Adams is a lot like the Republicans today; they support capitalism and the wealthy and are close with the British. Thomas Jefferson would probably be around today too, he’s more like the democrats; he supports the little people, wants to tax the wealthy people and would probably be in favor of social programs.

2. Decide if you are more of a Republican or a Federalist based on the political philosophies of the issues discussed in class.

It’s hard to tell if I would be a Republican or a Federalist, the topics the candidates wer

e debating weren’t really relevant to today, but if I had to pick a party I would probably pick the Federalist. The Federalist supported the British and today I know that the British are probably our closest ally. The Republicans also seemed to think that taxing the wealthy would be better for America, but we know that the wealthy spend the most, so giving them tax cuts will give them more money to go and spend, eventually giving are shops and businesses more money.

I think each candidate had a number of strength and weaknesses. Both candidates strengths were that they were both well spoken had a good vocabulary and had excellent manners. Thomas Jefferson’s weakness was his strange view on slavery, he said he supported slavery for the economy, but wasn’t he a supporter of all
