“God doesn’t require us to succeed; he only requires that you try.” -Blessed Mother Theresa The following quote can be a way to live ones life. Basically it is saying that as long as you truly try your hardest at all tasks at which you are faced with, God will be pleased. Success isn’t always visible by everyone; it comes in all different forms. Success may be a personal thing which only that individual understands. Because no one knows your limits as well as you do, your work effort and amount you try can only be determined by you. Therefore, since success is personal there are no specific guide lines to follow by which determine whether or not you tried hard enough. What everyone else sees as winning isn’t always a sign of true achievement. True success doesn’t need to be flaunted around because the self-satisfaction you get out of it is much greater then the recognition anyone can give you. When success is flaunted around it is usually not authentic and was achieved by cheating in one way or another. Unfortunately the work that is not authentic is sometimes praised, and the person that cheated their way through their task gets credit they don’t deserve. However, the person that receives all this un-d
I have been able to apply this quote to my personal life, as well as most people should be able to. I have been on the Kellenberg gymnastics team for 3 years in a row and somewhat consider myself to be a gymnast. Throughout my life I have been doing gymnastics as a side event just for fun. Once I got involved with high school gymnastics I realized that it is a very competitive sport that isn’t done just for fun, but for competition and it became one’s life. When I went to the initial signup freshman year and saw 25 other intimidating girls all signing the same sheet I began to panic; not to help the situation we were told the coach was going to have to make cuts. I wasn’t that confident in my gymnastics skills and the thought of backing out crossed my mind numerous times. Despite my negative thoughts I went to the first day of tryouts, and to my surprise the next 3 years as well. The coach chose me to be on the team! It turns out after all that talent isn’t everything, it is the way you present yourself. Later on when I looked at some of the other girls that had gotten cut, I thought to myself that they deserved my spot on the team since they had better talent than I did, but the coach chose me instead of them for some reason. After confronting the coach as to why she chose me over the other girls, she explained that it seemed as if I had potential and that I would be able to expand my talents as time went on. I took what she said in consideration, and as a way to thank her I decided to try to fulfill her expectations of me. Everyday in practice I would try my best and always try to apply myself in every new trick I tried. I came to realize that the coach was right about me striving to expand my horizons. We once won a meet against a team that was of a lesser level than us. Knowing that this team wasn’t as good as ours, no
