At a young age, I spent a lot of time watching Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. At that point in my life, I became hooked on wanting to build muscle. When I was 13, my parents began buying me muscle magazines. I would spend many hours reading on proper diet and proper training. At that young of an age though, my body wasn’t mature enough to put on much muscle. But I never gave up!

I was the first competitor to start the show off and I loved it. I knew I had a good routine coming into the show, but I didn’t think it would go as well as it did. The crowd got really into it and I felt extremely confident. After the competitors did their routine, it was time for all the juniors to come out together for my favorite part, the pose down. The pose down is the most exciting part of the show. It’s the last chance for me to convince the judges that I am the best one out there and I deserve 1st place. After the pose down, it was time to call out the placing in reverse order. It came down to the 20-year-old and I. “And second place goes to…” the master of ceremonies had a long pause. “John Smith!” At first I was disappointed in losing, but I very quickly realized that a guy who was 3 years older then me barely beat me. So I had noting to be disappointed about. The show was awesome and I had fun with it. That was the most important part.
