He does not believe that there is a God, or that anything was created by a higher power. He feels that the universe is purely external and has always been there. Lucretius also states that nature resolves everything into component atoms, and that something can never be reduced into nothing. Thomas Aquinas seems to make stronger arguments for his philosophical beliefs. He not only states his views, but he also negates possible contradictions. There is no definite answer through science about how a natural phenomenon caused the universe to begin. It also does not explain why. Why would the universe be created? Why there isn’t multiple universe’s created that we know about? Accepting that there is a God helps to explain the existence of everything and the reason for living is for the after life, which would not exist without a God. The contradiction to God existing that problems exist and that the universe is not perfect can also be negated. Challenges are given to people to strengthen their faith. Happiness comes from being able to negate the bad things that happen. It only strengthens the faith. Bad things happen so that we can appreciate the good. How would anyone know what good is if there isn’t any bad to justify something being good?
