Apollo 13 | Laws of Motion
The motion of a space shuttle breaking through Earthfs atmosphere can be explained by physical principals discovered over three hundred years ago by Sir Isaac Newton. He developed three laws of motion which many examples are demonstrated throughout this movie. Sir Isaac Newtonfs three laws of motion are ¨I. An object in motion tends to stay in motion, an object at rest tends to stay at rest, unless the object is acted upon by an outside force. II. The acceleration of an object acted on by an unbalanced force is inversely proportional to mass. | Fnet = Mass ~ Acceleration | III. Every action has an equal or opposite reaction. Some examples of Newtonfs laws are when they reach the speed for orbit around the earth, gas molecules pushing the shuttle forward in space, and the force needed to escape Earthfs atmosphere. When the space shuttle reached the critical speed for orbit aroun
For every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction is Newtonfs Third Law. The way a space shuttle is able to move in space is through the rocket engine. Gas molecules shoots out in one direction in order to get a reaction in the opposite direction. As stated by Newtonfs third Law there has to be an equal or opposite reaction. This causes the shuttle to move in the opposite direction of the gas molecules, which in turn accelerates the space shuttle. Universal Gravitation is the force of attraction by which all bodies or particles of matter in the universe tend to attract toward each other. During the movie, the space shuttle went into orbit around the Moon. The people of NASA knew they needed a way to change the trajectory of the space shuttle. The only probable way is to use the Moonfs gravitational pull to gsling-shoth the space shuttle back onto a flight to Earth. They did this b
