             Statistics is a mathematical tool used for making sense out of numerical data. It is used mainly as a tool for better decision making. It involves variables and numbers, which if correctly calculated, the outcome usually tells us the answer to our hypothesis. Statistics is indubitably important because of the fact that it involves numbers, and in our everyday lives, numbers is a gigantic part. Many of these numbers can be confusing, many can be questionable, but through the use of statistics, can be very beneficial. It is important for one reason because it is vital information for companies and corporations to see the trends of everything. For example, if the basic consumer is purchasing more cotton clothes than lets say, polyester, corporations would decrease production of polyester and increase it on the cotton line. This would in turn save money for the corporations, yielding greater profit then if they would have had kept on producing more polyester than cotton. This is undeniably important for the economy. Also, the use of statisticians is greatly needed for examples such as the one above stated, this in turn provides job opportunities for the American public, which, in these days, are very rare. .
             Statistics is used everywhere. (1) Open any newspaper or magazine, turn on the TV, or surf the internet. Before long you will see a chart of numbers, the results of an opinion poll, a graph, or some comment about how this year compares with last year with regard to crime rate, employment, availability of goods, and so forth. Sports reports are full of statistics. Even the ads tell you to use a certain toothpaste because four out of five dentists recommend. Thus concluding the fact that statistics is being used everywhere. Also, in many colleges, the criteria to attaining a degree in psychology, biology, sociology, computer science, nursing, business, linguistics, economies, political science, education, pre medicine, and pre law.
