Love

When I was in high school love equaled a feeling that you felt for someone else because you cared for them. So when I first started dating and got a girlfriend, after a few months I began to 'love' her. This is when I was 17. I never thought of love outside the scope of boyfriend/girlfriend. I knew I loved my parents, but I didn't think much about why or how. To me at that time love was defined by a great relationship between a couple. .
A few years later when I had matured a bit more, I started to think more about it. Most pop music dealt with this concept of love between a couple and I thought that it was being overused a lot, so I actually sat down one day and thought about it. I came to the conclusion that love is more than an emotion. It is a combination of action, feeling, commitment and loyalty. .
When you love someone your body language shows that you love the person. Take for instance and old couple holding hands. Everything has faded except their love for each other. By them holding hands it shows that they still love each other or at least care about one another. When you truly love someone you don't abuse them or mistreat them intentionally and if you do it unintentionally you apologize sincerely. When you love someone your feelings are shown through your actions. Opening the door, baking a cake, going out to the park, creating a present, etc, and all examples of how the feeling of love can be shown through actions.
The feeling of love isn't something that happens overnight or in an instant. It is a feeling acquired overtime through good deeds for one another, respect, and care. This idea of 'love at first sight' is more of an infatuation than a true lasting feeling. When you fall in 'love' with someone at first sight it is a purely superficial feeling because you neither know nor care about the person. .
Commitment is a big part of love. You can't just stop loving someone overnight. Take for instance the love of your parents.
