The house on Mango Street is Sandra Cisnero’s greatly admired novel of a young girl growing up in the Latino section of Chicago.
Esparanza is an uncomfortable girl with her house and with her life. She’s not happy how she lives and especially not with mango street. She was thinking she would like to baptize myself under a new name, a name more like the real me, the one nobody sees. But all of her friends had good names and she wanted to change her name. But she knew it she will always be Esparanza.
