Abortion

The issue of abortion has been very controversial throughout the years. This issue has been argued from ethical stands, human rights, religious beliefs and even politically. Efforts have been made legally, but it does not seem that a widespread compromise or settlement has been made that the majority of the general public can agree upon. Therefore, we still see and read through the news that the world complicated scientific problems have been solved, but social issues can not find a solution.

I believe that abortion should be banned, for it is disliked politically in most countries, and religiously. I believe that these are the strongest sides and which will be discussed in the essay.

Abortion: "An abortion is the forcible removal of a developing baby from the womb of his or her mother, using surgical, mechanical, or chemical means" (Podell 5). This act has been legalized in some countries throughout the world. The People's Republic of China requires abortion under certain circumstances. Abortion is not a new practice. It has been a practice used by many different cultures since the early days of civilization. Abortion has been approved because the restriction of the size of families is needed. In the Catholic Church we see that both popes, who are the highest religious people disbelieve in abortion. However, feminist try to change the believe of the Catholic Church by using the term "open-minded" in order to make the abortion issue more flexible or accepted. The feminist groups in the Catholic Church have the same view as those women who think that nobody should control their bodies. The difference is that in this case, the word conscience is the excuse used. In reality however, we do not see what is said. What we see is continuous murder in most cases. Referring back to the annual status of abortion quotes, we see that most of the abortions have been done not for any reason, (that the feminist in the Catholic Church mention), unless killing is not forbidden in the church any more Many feminists within the Catholic Church were not comfortable with the Church’s position on this issue.
