History is a subject in which people learned of their culture and lands back round. Most people learn about history from textbooks and or oral traditions. Other had a passion to present history in a different way. A way that others would appreciate more and still others would appreciate less. Movies are just another way to tell a story. That’s what history was, a story. There are many different stories that talk of our nations history or story. There were many important events that were documented in many films. This includes movies like “Glory”, “The Patriot”, just to name a few. This paper will concentrate on a smaller time frame though. This paper will deal with the area of time from our countries great depression, to the assassination of our countries youngest nominated president, John F. Kennedy. This area of time will deal with the adversity of this country. This counties strength in war, this countries corruption, this countries perseverance, and this countries screw ups. There are many things that are fabricated in these stories though. Things that will make Americans look less cruel or other ethnic groups that discriminated the Americans years ago.

There was a lot of corruption in the U.S. there were king pins or overlords if you will that were practically running the country. There were families that were in the head of these infamous powers. In the film “The Godfather” This film indicated and depicted these Mafia families that ran the country. They showed how theses thugs were able to strong arm people into doing whatever they wanted to. These families would strong arm people from police officers, to the mayor of the city. These groups of people had a strong sense of family. And these men would not allow any disrespect to any member of family. This film even went as far as stating that these families were even running the country.
In the early 1960’s, we had a president named John F. Kennedy. John was a president that was loved by the people. But there were many things in which the people were deprived of knowing about the young president. There was a incident called the “Bay of Pigs” That was the event in which the United States made an attempt to take over the country of Cuba. The forces in which Kennedy sent were stood no chance because Kennedy did not supply any air support for these soldiers. A result of that decision led to the near destruction of those forces. The film called “Thirteen Days” is the story of Kennedy and his associates before this massive attack on Cuba.
