this. Bell had an interest in the human voice that led to his invention of the telephone. Although, when Bell began experimenting, his purpose wasn’t to invent the telephone, instead he wanted to develop a multiple telegraph system. The telegraph Bell was experimenting with consisted mostly of reeds. Bell asked his partner Watson to pluck a reed, and the vibration was felt by Bell in the other room, in that moment the telephone was born. Bell received the patent for the telephone on March 17, 1876. Five days later Watson heard the famous words “ Mr. Watson come here- I want to see you,” and on June 25, 1876 the telephone was first introduced to the world at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia.
