Body Piercing Tattooing

Throughout society, body piercing and tattoos are often seen as dirty, disgusting, irresponsible, and trashy. In my opinion, I feel as though body piercing and tattooing are good expressions of personality. I am absolutely for piercing and tattooing.

When I came home from college one day, I randomly decided to get my tongue pierced. I had wanted it for a long time and I knew my mom wouldn't allow me to have it done, so I went through with it without her permission. I waited till I was the legal age of 18 in order to get it done. That night, I went back to my house and although my tongue was very swollen, nobody noticed. The only reason why my older sister noticed is because I yelled at her. I think that I wanted her to notice so I could see her reaction. My younger brother found out later that week and to my surprise, he did not tell my mother. My mom found out 3 weeks later when we got into a fight and started a yelling match. She said, "what is that in your mouth?". Thinking quickly, I replied, "um, nothing". I was scared to show her for fear of her reaction, but I showed her anyway realizing there was no way getting around it. All she did was look at me with an upset look and told me to leave and continue

what I was doing before she got really upset.

In my argument for body art and piercings, it is a good way forgone to express their personality. It makes each person even more unique, and there is nobody at harm (except for possibly the one getting it done). It is that person’s decision of what to do with their body.

Body art is very addicting. I would love to get another piercing, but I cannot deal with the pain. My friend Steph wants another piercing and many of my male friends that have tattoos are already on their second or third ones. My friend Melissa is on her eighth butterfly tattoo. Some religions do not approve of these body markings. In the Jewish religion, you are not allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. My friend Chad has the Star of David on his arm. Even though he is showing his love for his religion, he is scarring himself and I feel he is basically mocking his religion.

Depending on what generation you ask, the opinion of whether body piercing and tattooing is considered silly, gross, or expressional can differ. For instance, my mother has her own opinion. She is Jewish and in the Jewish religion, piercing and tattoos or any form of expressive body markings are shunned. You are not allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetery with any of it. My father was Israeli and my mom always told me that if my father were alive, he would ri
