The Goals

Three years ago I started my third year of college. When I moved to Wayne State College, in Wayne, Nebraska, in August, I had three short term goals that I wanted to achieve. These goals were to graduate from college within the next two years and begin teaching, get married shortly after college, and lastly, to start a family. Little did I know that these goals would be changed in the near future.

I moved into the dorms just like any other student and was trying to get into the groove of going back to school. I attended the first day of classes and then went back to my dorm. I didn't feel very good. I decided I was going to skip dinner, my stomach just had a very nauseating feeling, so I laid down and went to sleep.

In the morning I felt just fine so I continued on to breakfast and class and just figured what I had was a little of the first day jitters. I attended class and went to the gym to work out. I got back to the dorm room right before dinner and again felt nauseated. I was like, “Ok, did I work out too hard.” I again skipped dinner and fell asleep for the night.

Again in the morning I felt fine. This went on about two weeks where I would feel nauseated only in the evening. I kept thinking

The first orchestra practice was a week later. I had arrived to the church probably an hour early as to sit and observe the church and the people around it. It was in that hour that I felt a peace come over me, and I knew every thing would be all right. I continued in orchestra for a couple of weeks and decided this is what I was missing in my happiness. I became a Christian and started living for what God wanted and what he had in store for my life.

The divorce is not finalized yet as Keith and I cannot decide on anything. I have come to terms that my marriage was for the wrong reasons, but I am getting along. Through the grace of God, I have begun a new life for my son as well as for me. I have recently set some new goals that I will work towards completing. My new goals as of today are to graduate college with a culinary arts degree, remarry, and start a Christian-based family. Although these goals seem similar to the ones I had years ago, I am approaching the new goals with a new sense of wisdom and faith.

I asked the doctor if I were to continue the pregnancy what were my options. The doctor proceeded to tell me that I needed to cut the stress out of my life completely, and take care of myself.
