Cosmopolitan

In today’s world, we have magazines for all different areas. We have Playboy, Hunting and Fishing, Highlights, Sports Illustrated, Better Homes and Gardens and many other magazines for many different types of people. We have all these different magazines because there are a vast variety of people and opinions. I chose to write on Cosmopolitan. Cosmopolitan focuses mostly on the female public. It has articles on topics from makeup and perfume to wrinkle cream and sex drive. This is a magazine that focuses on women, and the validity of this statement will be proven in the following information.

Cosmopolitan carries many advertisements throughout its’ pages. The majority of these articles are for women’s perfume. The magazine has articles for Clinique Happy, NOA, Goodlife, j’adore, and Organza. These are just some of the many perfume advertisements in this one issue of Cosmo. Women, who are the focus of Cosmopolitan’s publication, see these articles and just like many people become interested in the product being advertised. Marketing personnel for these companies make millions because they know that to get their message to the people who will buy the product, they need to put the advertisement

Cosmopolitan serves as important research for many women. It answers many of the questions its readers are looking for. In my opinion, Cosmo is focused on women ages 18-45. This range comes from the fact that Cosmo contains things that many younger people are not concerned with, such as wrinkles or gray hair. It also has some things that the youngest of readers do not need to know, such as sexual material. It does have some things for the younger mature audiences, such as what the latest celebrities are wearing and their beauty secrets. The subject matter ranges so much, but the core is still there. Hair, makeup, clothing, and talking about men are all the things women need for a perfect night of relaxing reading. In the area of all comparisons, I found Cosmo to be heads above the competition. Although, Cosmopolitan is very much a joke to many men and some women, I believe it serves its desired purposes to perfection.

In a comparison with Cosmopolitan and Glamour, I found that Cosmo shows a much more in depth view of a woman’s point of view. Glamour had the same type of advertisements and articles, but the articles in Cosmopolitan were more bold and sexual than many of the Glam articles. Glam still pushes the same issues that Cosmo does, but Glam seems to hold back, when Cosmo lets it all hang out. For example, Glam doesn’t push the same sexual questions that Cosmopolitan does. Glam doesn’t ask women if their sexual fantasies are being fulfilled, an
