Death Penalty

Jesus says “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions” (Mathew 6:14-15). Therefore, if you do not forgive the murderer for his sin then God will not forgive you. In Mathew 7:12, Jesus says, “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the law of the Prophets.” Hence you should forgive others for their sins no matter how big it is, because that is how you would like people to treat you. Jesus furthermore proclaims, “You have heard that is was said an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth, But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also (Mathew 5:38-39). I know that he would be safely locked up in prison and that he would not be able to harm me. I would be very mad at him but hopefully I would eventually be able to forgive him if he was truly sorry for what he did. Killing him would not bring back my best friend so I do not see any reason to have another person killed.

Also capital punishment is very racially prejudiced. Minorities are up to th
