The Declaration of Independence was written to declare the freedom of the thirteen colonies and to give the world an explanation of why they separated from Great Britain. In the 1700’s Great Britain did not have a good form of government. The colonies believed that if they could separate from Great Britain that they could form their own government. That government would be one that would be better than Great Britain’s and they succeeded! I agree with everything the colonies did and I am very grateful to them. In my opinion, I believe and agree with everything the Declaration of Independence states. I believe the colonies had the right to separate from Great Britain and that nature justified their rights. Great Britain was not protecting the rights of the people and the people needed a government that would protect their rights and give them freedom. King George was not looking out for the rights of his people when the people needed him to. I believe if I was living back in the 1700’s, I would have been strongly for the separation from Great Britain.
