Does Size Really Matter
Does size really matter? Does this outfit make me look fat? These are some of the questions that we must put up with throughout life. Not because people really care about what they look like but because our culture tells people they should care. Most of they people we try to impress wouldn’t care if we didn’t comb our hair or put on our make-up. The people we care about usually care enough about us to know that inner beauty is what is really important. The culture we are raised in tells us we need to look and act a certain way in order to fit in to the big picture. There is only one problem with this. Who is to decide what the big picture is? Certainly not our culture or our society. It is a decision we need to make for ourselves, creating a world of variety and color. A perfect example of this is the relationship between C.D Bales, Roxanne, and Chris. Each person is motivated by different feelings, whether it is love, lust, or a schoolgirl crush. C.D Bales is one of the most athletic, poetic, and all around sincere guys most of us would ever meet. He is motivated to become more then just friends with Roxanne not only because of her looks but also because of her mind. Roxanne knows about astronomy, one of the
Chris is the kind of guy that wants what he cant have then as soon as he gets it is ready to move on. He thinks he is in love but nine times out of ten it turns out to be lust. Chris falls in love with Roxanne based solely on her looks. When he finds out she is very deep and intellectual he gets scared and asks for C.D’s help in asking her out on a date. Chris is the classic high school quarterback stereotype; good looks, always gets the girl, but has the brains of a well-educated chimpanzee. This causes Chris to panic in front of women and he feel very unconfedent about his actions. He is motivated by his desire to win the trophy, in this case Roxanne. He uses C.D to talk Roxanne into falling in love with him then uses him even more to continue courting Roxanne for his own benefit. Chris has no tact and doesn’t care who he hurts to get to what or who he wants. He uses mind games and cheap tricks to persuade Roxanne to fall in love with him. By doing this he not only ends up hurting Roxanne but his friend C.D, who has to put up with the game. Chris is the kind of guy you definitely wouldn’t want to have as a friend or a lover. nship with the same girl. It takes C.D a long time to realize that he is a very handsome person with a lot to say. Once he figures this out he realizes that he should be with Roxanne and that it doesn’t matter if he is the best looking man in the town. All that matters is that he has the confidence to do anything he wants to. The relationships between C.D, Chris and Roxanne are in constant co
