Chris falls in love with Roxanne based solely on her looks. When he finds out she is very deep and intellectual he gets scared and asks for C.D’s help in asking her out on a date. Chris is the classic high school quarterback stereotype; good looks, always gets the girl, but has the brains of a well-educated chimpanzee. This causes Chris to panic in front of women and he feel very unconfedent about his actions. He is motivated by his desire to win the trophy, in this case Roxanne. He uses C.D to talk Roxanne into falling in love with him then uses him even more to continue courting Roxanne for his own benefit. Chris has no tact and doesn’t care who he hurts to get to what or who he wants. He uses mind games and cheap tricks to persuade Roxanne to fall in love with him. By doing this he not only ends up hurting Roxanne but his friend C.D, who has to put up with the game. Chris is the kind of guy you definitely wouldn’t want to have as a friend or a lover.
