Dreams! What are dreams? Why do we dream? Are dreams subconscious thoughts and desires influenced by the events of our day? Might we dream of someone new, a person we’ve never met before, and perhaps that day you make a new friend? Dreams are very interesting. What stages do we go through? What is our brain doing? What does science say?
Many experiments have been conducted about why we dream, dreams are a response to our thoughts, actions and recent events in our days. There was one study done to see what everyday life would be like without dreaming they gave the subjects a drug to eliminate the REM (rapid eye movement) which is the time in which we dream. The studies proved that without dreaming they changed they become more anxious and abrasive and it also altered their personalities. Dreaming is something every one does and although some people don’t remember their dreams or maybe only just a couple everyone has that night time journey we call dreams. Dreams really are amazing things without them we really would be more uptight then we already are. Dreams are a blessing in disguise and a way to figure things out without stressing about them, using your subconscious and also just a way to dream to let loose and go for the impossible. What will you dream about tonight? Think about all the facts you learned and see if this is all true to your night journey.
Science might take some of the magic out of dreams, but wouldn’t we all like to know the truth? Dreaming like all other mental processes, is cause by the brain and its activity. Even when a person is awake there brain is still giving off electrical waves. Scientist measure these waves to find weather they are going fast or slow. During periods of fast brain waves, the eyes move rapidly and this is also known as REM sleep as mentioned in the stages of sleep. When a sleeper experiences REM sleep it is almost as if they are watching a series of events, and in turn they are dream what they are seeing. The path
