Faust - Evil
“Evil Grows From Simple Desires” Evil is a very vague topic, it can consist of many things, a person’s action, a person’s way of thinking, an attitude, a feeling, a sense, it could be anything really. But what could cause a thing of this magnitude? Many things, one of which that has a great role in doing so is desire. Desire can grow into evil very subtly, so subtly that it can occur without the person’s knowledge. A person, who desires something, usually will try to obtain what it is that they desire. If that person is denied that thing, they may gradually look towards evil to obtain it. This is the case with many people. Mostly in people who are weak minded, or have lack of faith and will power. There are many examples of this power in today’s society, in literature new and old, and in our everyday actions. In today’s society, you hear stories in the news that might come across as evil. And some that give a strong feeling of disgust. Many of the actions that provoked those strong feelings derive from a simple desire that may have been denied from that person. After long periods of torment he had contemplated suicide, but was talked out of it by the lord, and still he was tormented, until he called upon the devil. He asked the devil to give him knowledge, beyond that which he had, knowledge of the gods. The devil agreed to do so, only if he sold his soul, in doing so he would have to be the devils servant in the after life. Faust agreed to this, and at once the devil was Faust’s servant doing what Faust wanted. This soon led to evil. Faust saw a girl, a girl he thought that he must have. With the devils help, he achieved the girls love, Faust at first believed he loved her, but when realizing it was just lust, and continued seeing her he had been truly changed by the evil that had slowly overcome him. He told the girl to give a potion to her mother so she wouldn’t wake, while they made love, and sure enough she never woke again, the potion had killed her. Soon the girl was pregnant with Faust’s child, soon after he abandoned her. Just because a person becomes evil, and does evil things, does not mean that they cannot change, in the end Faust realizes the evil he has done to this poor girl and her family, and returns to help, but she no l
