French is only a language to those who speak it. For most Americans, French is not a part of who they are, the lifestyle they live, the language they speak, or a culture they can identify with. They were born Americans. The similarities of the American culture and the French culture boil down to french fries and good wine. However, on the other side of the world, from a French perspective, the American culture is not a part of who they are, the lifestyle they live, the language they speak, or a culture they can identify with. How can two dynamically different groups of people co-exist in the world and respect each other’s cultures and lifestyles? The answer to the question is easy: the French are over there and the Americans are over here. Another group of people that are dynamically different in who they are, the lifestyle they live, the language they speak, and cultures that they can identify with, are not so lucky. To think about the powerful implications of God’s Word is overwhelming. First, He did not destroy Sodom because of homosexuality (verses 49-50); His own chosen people (the Jews) had committed worse sins that the people of Sodom (verse 51); the people of Sodom were more righteous than the Jews (verse 52); Sodom will be restored to her former estate (verse 55); the wickedness of the Jews was discovered by God (verse 57); God will deal with the Jews as they dealt with Sodom and Samaria (verse 59); God is a forgiving God and will provide a way (Jesus Christ) for an everlasting covenant (verse 60); In the end, one will know that He is the Lord (verse 62).

Therefore, if the laws of the State of Vermont say that two adults of the same sex can be legally married, this law is also ordained of God. And it would follow that “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” (Hebrew-Greek, Heb. 13.4) Notice that the writer says that marriage is “honourable in all,” not “honourable in only straight people.”

It is easy to read this story and conclude that God destroyed this city because of the homosexual activity that was going on; however, this is not the case. The true sin of Sodom was not homosexual activity, but selfishness, arrogance, and inhospitality. To a modern reader, the sin of inhospitality may not warrant the destruction of a city. However, the two angels came to Sodom in an era when travel was dangerous. There were no fast-food restaurants or hotels. A traveler’s survival depended on hospitality. (Silver 60)

The Bible condemns homosexuality; Any group of people that ignores the Bible will face the wrath of God. If fact [. . .] the city of Sodom [was] destroyed by God because its inhabitants practiced homosexuality; [. . .] Whether or not homosexuality has a biological cause, homosexuals must struggle against their impulses and learn to live as God intended [. . .] . All humans are born into sin. That doesn’t mean people should give in to it; No matter how homosexuals live – no matter how monogamous or how loving or how religious – they are living in sin because heterosexuality is the only acceptable form of sexuality….
