Macbeth
During the modern age, the relationship between men and women were believed that men were leaders and decision makers. Men were considered to be superior to women. During the modern age men were the ones who held “all the power in their hands.” In the play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare Lady Macbeth's forceful qualities and murderous ambition results in her portrayal as an unsexed female. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare first displays Lady Macbeth as having forceful qualities; her forceful qualities she manage to accomplish many evil things through her lust for power. In Act I Scene 5 Lady Macbeth reads a letter about Macbeth meeting with the witches. She fears that Macbeth lacks the ruthlessness, he needs to kill Duncan and fulfill the witches second prophecy. Lady Macbeth states " Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be what thou promised...Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o'th'milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way...art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it…"(1.5.15-20). She had just learned that Duncan is coming to visit
