Teaching to me is broken down into two major facets. The first being that you are there to help teach new subjects to children that they need to comprehend and learn what is being taught in the classroom. Second, teachers need to be able to help children apply what they learn in everyday life. This is why I want to teach so very badly. I want to be able to help people grow, mature, and learn life’s lessons. I think that teachers have the greatest possible job because they will be able to affect the minds of 20 –30 kids every single year for the rest of their lives.
When you think about how much of your life is spent in a classroom from preschool up to your senior year of high school, it is amazing. Today’s youth needs people that want to be there to help them learn about things for their future. Parents put a lot of trust and faith in teachers to help their children progress in life. This is why teaching excites me so much. I want to help shape the minds of tomorrow’s future.
One thing I know is that some children don’t get enough guidance or attention from their parents at home. They come to school because they want to feel important and learn new things everyday. These are k
Another great method of teaching that I feel brings a lot to the table is rewarding the students for doing good jobs in the classroom. It was always an incentive to me personally when I would see others in class doing better than me on an exam. It also felt good to hear my name mentioned when I did good on a test. Teachers should always reward for outstanding class performance. At young ages, most kids want to do well, especially if they see others performing at that level. I did not enjoy teachers that just passed back assignments and tests with nothing to say about them. Something as little as giving stickers or notes on the papers that are returned can make a world of difference to a small child. They like to be rewarded for their work, and it keeps a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
I think that there are a couple of key things from my previous school experience that I would definitely carry over to my classroom. One is that the classroom needs to be open for discussion, as long as it pertains to the lesson at hand. I did not enjoy, nor learn as well in classrooms where the teacher did all the talking by just lecturing the class and having them take notes. That is a horrible way to learn in my opinion. There needs to be interaction between teacher and students. Relating the lesson to things that the children will understand is the key thing. If they find something they relate to, then they will be more in tune to learn more about it. I want to be very interactive with the students on daily basis, and not be a teacher that just lectures to them
