Nine Eleven

As a young girl I listened to both civilian and military planes soar overhead. I soon became accustomed to the sound, and never really paid much attention to it. That is until September 11, 2001. My country stood in shock as terrorists viscously attacked the two World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon. In the few days that followed the attacks Americans were fueled by their raging emotions. It seemed as though everyone had something to say. It was at this very moment that I was very proud to be an American. The terrorist who attacked America on September 11, 2001 hoped that they would bring it to its knees. However, all they were able to do was bring us all closer together. On that dreadful Tuesday morning Americans joined together to help each other in a way my generation has never seen.

I do not quite understand why terrorists think that these acts will bring forth the destruction of democracy or the United States in general. The United States has been built on freedom and liberty, and ideal that all citizens will stand to uphold. It is times like these that the United States stops thinking about the smaller picture and starts working together to defend our freedom. Even those who hate our government will stand and fight with it to defend their freedom, for it is this freedom that allows them to have these views. The countries of the world will unite to uphold democracy. The war on wiping out terrorism has begun.

When the planes began to fly again they made the most terrifying noise. They are mostly military planes, which are flying low over the University of Arizona. I cannot help but have flashbacks to the scene of the planes hitting the World Trade Center Towers.

Americans are given the freedom of speech under the United States Constitution. This right of t
