Thomas Cole became something of a national culture idol; a young hero for a young nation. He was esteemed as the founder of national landscape painting in the U.S., the Hudson River School. Cole was the first boy wonder of American painting to prove himself entirely on native ground. Earlier prodigies, like Benjamin West, had had to do so in Europe. Cole had no formal training. He learned about landscape painting from theoretical tracts and the early-19th century equivalent of how-to manuals, backed up by a great deal of attentive looking. He couldn't draw the human figure very well, so he wisely placed them all into the far off distance. Cole lived a fairly short life. He died at the age of 47 in 1848. Thomas Cole’s work is some of the most glorious works of aesthetic expression known to man. He was able to capture the natural exquisiteness of the Earth and portray the emotions that he felt on to the blank canvas, creating brilliant breathtaking images. These paintings !

The entrance to the Great Pyramid is on the north side with the opening being 59 feet above ground level. A sloping corridor descends from it through the pyramid’s interior masonry in which it penetrates the rocky soil on which the structure rests. The end of the corridor is in an unfinished underground chamber. The underground chamber branches to an ascending passageway that leads to a room known as the Queen’s Chamber and to a great slanting gallery that is 151 feet long. At the upper end of this gallery a long and narrow passage gives access to the burial room proper, usually termed the King’s Chamber. This room is entirely lined and roofed with granite. From the chamber two narrow shafts run obliquely through the masonry to the exterior of the pyramid. Above the King’s Chamber are five compartments separated by massive horizontal granite slabs; the likely purpose of these slabs was to shield the ceiling of the burial chamber by diverting the immense thrust exerted by t!

All art, whether it is fine art or liberal, non-utilitarian or utilitarian, plays many roles in our society. Over the centuries art has helped define the cultures and set boundaries and limitations. Artist are continually stretching and pushing the limits of morality while seeking the acceptance of society.

During a time when political correctness is almost a must, Pulp Fiction is ferocious fun without a trace of caution, complacency or political correctness. With an immense expression of passion for storytelling, this movie allows the most outrageous characters to reveal their feelings in long takes and torrents of words, both poetic and profane. The script contains verbal rhythm, wicked playfulness and is full of suspenseful scenes. The violence is easily over looked due the morbid humor that is displayed.

His fabulous sax playing can be heard on the songs throughout the album. The single, “Trust Me”, is one of my personal favorites. It begins with a soft yet soothing melody. The rhythm is so relaxing, makes you feel as if there is no other care in the world. Then a slow tender cry from the soprano saxophone materializes from a far off distance. Gradually the saxophone begins to overpower the other instruments until it is main instrument that you hear. The rhythm is of the sort that you can’t help but feel moved, it is all one can do not sway as the music oscillates from its apex to its mellowing lows. When you hear the sultry wail of the saxophone accompanied by the tantalizing strokes of the keyboard you can’t help but to feel seduced by this romantic ensemble. This is the type of song that makes you want to reach out to the one that you cherish and let them know they are loved.
