Preventing Terrorism

On September 11, 2001, thousands of people in the twin towers, one hundred and ninety people in the pentagon, and all of the passengers in planes of flight numbers 11, 77, 93, and 175 were killed when terrorists led by Osama bin Laden, attacked America with commercial jets. As a result, there has been talk about war in the future and what results a war can bring. A war means that people might die and that other sacrifices may have to be made. Is it worth the trouble? I am convinced that the US should go to war if necessary in order to try to prevent terrorists attacks from happening again any time future.
It is clear through the history of terrorism that if the US does not try to stop this terrorism right now, other anti-US organizations will think that the US will not react and perpetuate more attacks. If the terrorists are punished for their actions this time, then it will set an example to the other groups. This will discourage the other groups from trying to attack the US in a way, because they will know the severe consequences of their actions. When the terrorists bombed the World Trade Center the first time and also when they attacked the USS Cole, killing seventeen US soldiers, the government failed to take any type of action against the person or people who organized and paid for the attacks: Osama bin Laden. The government should have taken more precaution beforehand concerning airports and airplanes. While watching the channel four, I saw an interview of a person who was working in the Pentagon saying that this type of attack could of happened sooner or later, and also that this kind of attack was very possible. If it was even obvious that this kind of attack was even thought to be an option of attack, they should have had some kind of defense plan in case something like this happened. For example, the government could have had some kind of weapons system near the airport in case of an attack of this kind.
