In today's society, a participatory democracy would be the best choice to serve the the country, it's citizens, and government. Just as in ancient Greece's city-states, a participatory, Aristotelian, or direct democracy, would be the best choice for a well stablized government. Defined as the, "rule of the many," this type of democracy has been practiced throughout history. In Greece in the 5th century B.C. the governemnt worked out great. Today, the same thing could happen if a participatory democracy was instated. The body of this essay will consist of reasons supporting participatory democracy. I will discuss that a direct democracy will serve the ideas of the citizens best, save time, and will save much of the other hassles of today's represenative democracy.
Many people belive that the issues would be too complex and that people wouldn't care if a direct democracy was instated, but this statement is completely false. Issues being too complex couldn't happen because people would have proposed them, so obviously they must know what they're proposing. Secondly, the citizens would have to care to even propose a bill or legislation. The two false reasons above could never work out to be true.
