Republicans Vs. Democrats
The first two political parties in America are the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Several political parties were formed under these two first political parties. However, despite several groups of political parties exist, two groups of political parties are popular: the democrats and the republicans. Different than the view of the democrats, the republicans believe in citizen's rights and freedom, in economic opportunity of a nation, in a nation’s national defense, and in an education that is under a parental control. Firstly, the republicans believe that the United States were founded on the fundamental principle that individuals have certain rights and freedoms. They believe that the individuals’ rights and freedoms cannot be violated and may be restricted only to the degree essential to maintain the rights of others. This means each and individual can enjoy the rights and freedoms of the country without diminishing the rights of others. For example, one have the rights to own a gun to use for protection and pleasure. Right now, the US government is comprised of republicans and democrats. They are both helping each other to make the U.S. a better and safer nation. Even though the republicans and democrats work together, they still have different perspective about individual’s rights and freedoms, the nation’s economic opportunity, the nation’s national defense, and the individual’s education. The democrats say that the federal government has the right to determine the values that will be taught in public schools. Democrats have increased spending on misguided "federal meddling" in education such as Goals 2000. They have also been misguided on national literacy program, where they would pay volunteers to teach the children to read. Democrats also oppose the GOP-supported school choice programs, which would allow families to decide which schools are best for their children. Secondly, when it comes to the country’s economics, republicans believe that to improve the standard of living in America, the government must cut taxes, balance the budget, provide more jobs, reduce government spending, and support free but fair international trade. The republicans believe that the money a person earns is for him or her to keep. Republicans also support the idea that government in a free society has the right to take only as much as is needed to perform limited functions that are appropriate.
