Introduction: The source of energy required for living is supplied by the food you eat. The nutrients in food supply both the matter and the energy that your body requires for human performance.
Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to determine the absence or presence of four specific nutrients, namely sugars, starches, proteins, and fats in some different foods.
Hypothesis: The four foods I choose for this experiment was a croissant, fruity pebbles, and applesauce. I believe that the croissant contains sugar, protein, and fats but I don’t believe the croissant-contained starch. The fruity pebbles, in my opinion, contain sugar, starch, and fats but not protein. Also, I believe the applesauce will consist of sugar, starch, and fats, but no protein.
3) Biuret’s solution indicated whether protein was present or not. If the color was purple protein was present.
