Should Kids Be Punished As Adults?
Imagine a nine- year-old child bringing a gun to school because he thought it was cool. Then when another boy makes fun of him for the way he talks, heremembers what the boys in Columbine did, so he thinks that he should do it too. He figures that since they did it then it must not have been bad. Bang! The boy falls to the floor. It’s not something one wants to imagine, is it? I mean before the 90’s one never would have thought a kid would do it ,but now it’s been happening too often. There have been many questions that have come about because of these tragic events. Questions such as: Have we let our children down as a society? How do we fix this? However the most important one is......how do we punish thesechildren? Do we give them the benefit of the doubt, or do we give them what they deserve for taking another person’s life? My answer to this question is that we help them out by inspiring them to realize that it’s better to go down a path of rehabilitation than to go down a path of destruction. Some people believe we should try them as adults because they committed an adult crime ,while others say they are just children. Yes, they deserve to be
